Northwest cherry and stone fruit research review scheduled Nov. 9


The Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission, in collaboration with the Oregon Sweet Cherry Commission, invites everyone interested to attend this year’s Northwest cherry and stone fruit research review. The event will be held online Nov. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon Pacific Time. 

According to a news release, this event will feature: 

—Continuing research project reports on little cherry disease, including vector management, low titer trees, replant strategies and volatile biomarkers; spotted wing drosophila; nutrient management; modeling cold hardiness; and pesticide residues. 

—Final reports on spotted wing drosophila management, the cherry breeding program (a three-year summary) and understanding and mitigating the effects of little cherry disease. 

—Updates on technology initiatives, research commission board activities and research funding status from the California Sweet Cherry Board. 

A full agenda will be uploaded to the research commission website (treefruitresearch.org/nw-cherry-research-review) approximately two weeks in advance of the review. Pesticide credits will be available.
